- ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆very nice place for grocery and food stuff. Big parking space near by Dundas st.By Piyush Ghimire, May 09, 2017
- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆So, they label a bunch of eggplants as "Chinese eggplants" which are cheaper than regular ones. At checkout they charge me for regular. So I visit "customer service" and she tells me I got an Italian eggplant for regular price so I should be happy. Cool, I get that, and I'll keep my eggplant. So I tell her "These were labeled as Chinese eggplants, though". She goes "Yes, but these are italian eggplants". For some reason, they don't seem to understand my point which was basically wrong labeling. At this point another lady (working there) butts in with "They're charged by weight". What? And yet another cashier chimes in with "Chinese eggplants are long ones". Sure, they probably are! But, not everyone knows the difference (esp as a relatively new immigrant) so I go by labels. This is akin to expecting a Canadian to magically tell the difference between 5-6 varieties of Indian eggplants. So, basically, they dumped a bunch of Italian eggplants in the Chinese eggplant section. And never bothered to change the label. But none at the store seem to get it. At this point, they thought I was stupid, I began to get really anxious (I'm socially anxious) and irritated, so I asked them to refund me for the eggplant and one of them goes "Pfftt" with a head shake. You know. All that was needed was "Oh, we're sorry about the labels, we will fix it / we do not know how that happened. This one's an Italian eggplant and you got a great deal :)" and I'd have been on my way home. The 1-star is not just for this incident. The store as a whole has a very low-energy / dingy look coupled with narrow aisles and cashiers that do not bother to look up and say 'hello'. The prices when locked-down are decent, but otherwise more expensive than other stores. Given the lack of choice in my area, however, I'll probably have to come back to this store. I will change my rating when things change.By Jay V, March 26, 2017
