  • Attended a wedding here and stayed overnight. Everything at the wedding was done perfectly and the venue was gorgeous. Great staff and lots of beautiful spaces. I would encourage Old Mill to look into better beer selection though. Rooms are very cute, and worth the stay. Will come again and use the bike and kayak rentals.

Booked afternoon tea on Father's Day weekend and had the worse experience. Upon arrival, no one greeted us. We had to reach out to a waiter who just pointed us to another entrance to their main dining hall (they have multiple entrances). We went up and despite 2 hostesses manning the booth, no one greeted us again. Finally after a minute of awkward silence, a hostess greets us. We said we had reservations for afternoon tea and she escorted us to our table. The tea room was empty and being this was a special occasion for us, we asked to be seated by the window as opposed to the entrance. She said it was reserved despite us also making a reservation for the same table size. We had a baby and she asked if we needed a high chair. We said yes and then she left saying she would ask someone to get it. After a few minutes of holding our baby, no one came to with a high chair and we ended up asking a random server for a high chair. Our server greets us and immediately asks what tea we wanted to drink. We said we needed a couple of minutes. When he came back, I asked him to explain a few of the teas to which he had absolutely no idea. Just said, it's a black tea or it's not a black tea. With that, I had to just select a typical earl grey because I didn't know exactly what the other teas were like. The tea came in a very typical tea bag and the pastries were brought up and plopped on our desk. Again, no introduction to the pieces were done. They also removed all but 1 set of jam and butter instead of leaving 2 sets. I felt like I was in a fast food chain. I asked for cream for the tea and the server was confused.... He finally said, there's milk. I'm like yes and I am asking for cream. He finally came back with cream and I'm left wondering am I the first customer he's served who adds cream to tea.... The tea and food was acceptable which is the only reason I would give it 2 stars instead of 1. The service and atmosphere is very lacking and even though their price is somewhat cheaper, I would never come back for mediocre afternoon tea.

  • This is a very nice hotel in a good location; free parking and easy access to public transport - these are important points for visitors. Our room was huge, with a big bathroom (spa bath and shower cubicle, separate WC). The soft jazz theme and background music is a nice touch. The continental breakfast was really good enough (porridge and boiled eggs in addition to the expected). If access to sauna etc was included for the hotel guests, rather than having to first pay for access to / spa treatment, this would have attracted full five stars.
